Three words: WARNING IN LOBBY That needs to happen. It's way too easy to exploit. I just had a really fun match, only to have my planet explode for no apparent reason. Then I checked chronocam and was... Annoyed. I feel like all the joy and entertainment I experienced during that game was taken back from me. I know in the past I've said "eh well you can see it in-game anyway". Now I know, not enough. There HAS to be a warning in the lobby. In extension to this I think if orbital lines cross, that section should be highlighted yellow. So if you go in game and see a big yellow ring in a 2+ planet system you know there's going to be a collision. Oh and if anyone's curious: http://pastats.com/chart?gameId=242425
Agreed, I had a game once where there were 3 planets. 2 starting planets where my team mate and I divided upon. We were both battling hard on that planet until bang, both starting planets crashed into each other so my team mate and I died while the other commanders apparently fled early game towards the safe third planet via teleporter... So yeah, I agree upon a warning with a timestamp or something. An ingame countdown would also be awesome for gamemode purposes.
Yep, this would not only be very useful, but would also add to the gameplay. I'm a strong believer in being able to plan precisely around game changing events in strategy games, plus the count down would make me feel even more like James Bond than I already do in my daily life.
You already feel like James Bond? Are you an alcoholic sex addict who mercilessly kills people and is only live because of idiotic decisions made by supposed criminal masterminds?
Personally I say no. It takes you 5 seconds after game start to zoom out and look if the planets are on a collision course, if you can't do that, you don't deserve to win, your problem. But then again, who am I to speak, I'm probably the only guy in here that can't understand why people were whining and screaming for a competetive update in a game that's far from finished and quite unbalanced.. ¨~ Chris
Make that three. Would have much rather seen another two months of focus on unit roster, balance, and polish but thats democracy for you
I thousand times YES; any time orbits overlap, there will be a collision eventually. Whether it's 5 minutes or 5 Million years doesn't matter, it shouldn't be a surprise event
Wasn't there a mod working on this? It sounds like more of a limited-man-hours problem than a technically challenging one. Perhaps if most of the groundwork were done, it could be finalized in an evening or two.
