I just recently decided to delve into the world of PA mods, and following recommendations from this forum decided to start with PAMM and Statera. This may be in the wrong location... if so, feel free to redirect me... but does anyone know if there is a way to use the Statera mod without losing the ability for orbital constructors to build portals? I love the rest of the mod, but the loss of the ability to build portals is leading to the epic stalemates that this feature had largely resolved for us. Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately there isn't currently a way to be selective about which changes you want from a mod, short of creating your own fork. I must admit I haven't played enough Statera to know they've removed the ability to make gates with orbital... The best option would be to take this up with the mod authors... paging @stuart98 , @squishypon3 ! If you don't like that mod though, there are a few other balance mods to try out.... boombotwars and dox4lyfe are worth a look for not so serious gameplay The RCBM (realm community balance mod), anti popcorn and Community rebalance are also all well worth a look.
Yeah, you probably want to ask in the Statera thread. But to do what you want, you would have to edit the modfiles directly. It's all JavaScript (and JSON's).
Yeah, correct, but so is JavaScript, C++, Python, Java, etc., etc.. But yeah, they are JavaScript objects basically, so structured text files containing data in an easy to read format for computers. Mainly used for particle effects and models and such in PA, I think.
Use Astreaus for setting up beachheads. They can carry 5 units and cost 200 metal a pop, it shouldn't be hard getting a bunch of them. Use SXX for clearing any ground units that are giving you trouble and anchors to clear the air. Orb fabbers fabbing teleporters made no sense and did nothing other than act as a crutch for Uber to do ignore orbital and invasions. Really Statera should be played on single-planet systems. Multi-planet gameplay is broken no matter what you do and will stay that way until Uber adds the Unit Cannon or someone finds a hacky way of putting it in.
There are a few basic categories of balance mods that should be considered. Complete Redo: RCBM (by KNight, Liquius, Nanolathe,YourlocalmadSci, Zwiestein000) Statera (see link above) ModX (by ZX0) Vanilla Based: Anti-Popcorn (by me) UberBalance (by mered4) Selective Fixes or Just Goofy NavalRedux (by the Statera guys) Orbital Warfare Overhaul (emraldis/Darksteel,Nicb1, mgmetal13) boom bot wars mentioned above and others I'm too lazy to look up.
forgot about that one, a good one to include. O was too far down the alphabetically sorted list of server mods
Go to username/appdata/local/uber entertainment/planetary annihilation/server mods/squishy.blablabla.statera Go into that mod folder and look for the following ...squishy.blablabla.statera/pa/land/teleporter/teleporter.json Open it with a notepad. Read through it. Find Unittypes (or ctrl-f unittypes). Add the unit type to it, and feel free to copy-paste, ,"UNITTYPE_FabOrbBuild" . REMEMBER THE COMMA WHEN YOU ADD IT, NO RUN-ON SENTENCES! go to ...squishy.blablabla.statera/modinfo.json and rename it (statera orbfab-tele) so people know its an edit of statera, and also let them know when you are in the lobby with them.
I don't know why people still use NavalRedux. I sort of abandoned it for the longest time because I didn't figure much use from it, but I updated it recently because of the servere differences in the game since I originally made it, and to future-proof it, as well as to add a "signature unit" to it because that shtuff apparently sells glamor to those that seek it in mods.
