I am fairly new to PA and I have been having a blast learning the ins and outs via Galactic War. I was playing a match the other day waiting to make my endgame invasion and I was just sitting there watching my units pile up when I wondered if there is a way to make the AI play itself. I admit I didn't look very hard the last time I played to see if this was possible and now I'm at work so I can't try to figure it out, so I thought I would ask here. Is there a way to set up an AI only match so I can have PA playing in the background while I do other things? It would be a sweet screensaver and possibly enlightening to see what strategies the AI would employ against itself. If there was a way to have the camera automatically switch to "action" every so often that would be a cool feature as well, I realize that is a weird feature request that only works in this specific case but I just thought it would be cool. I love the game so far Uber. Keep the updates coming! I am totally bummed that HR didn't get funded, I hope you try again soon.
Simple: Host a game, make a spectator slot. Jump in it. Add AIs to the slots, set their difficulties, and shazam! Free popcorn consumption urge! Hours of entertainment! MIND-BOGGLING-LY stupid computers throwing nuclear missiles at other, like-minded robots.
Well, if you have a toast slot in your rig's case, you can put those CPU cycles to work! (warning: please don't do this, ever)
This worked flippin great by the way. I started up a 10 player AI match and loaded myself in as spectator and watched the AI battle it out. It all ended in a massive nuclear strike. It was fun to watch.
That broke a long time ago, unfortunately. If nobody else fixes it I guess I do plan to get back to it some day, but I got tired of fixing every mod after every patch.
Such a brilliant film. I re-watched it the other night, even better than I remembered. I'm pretty sure it's been voted second best superhero movie of all time (as if internet polls mean a damn thing) which I think is pretty accurate. On topic: I... I actually have nothing to say. I'm happy you can now watch computers play eachother OP?
I always wondered, if there are only AIs left in the match, and all the players left, is AI still playing until the end? I.e., is there artificial life after human death?
Total OffTopic: 1st: I totally agree on that part! 2nd: I definitivly have to rebuy that one on BluRay... ...was such an incredible (ha! I said the i-word...) movie... 3rd: I believe so, but I think it stops once the last spectator leaves the match...
rofl 'Does a nuke have a purpose without a human to witness its doom?' That just seems like such a gloriously philosophic question for PA
