My headset for the last 3+ years has finally broken, the Mic no longer works and given that they also happen to be fairly uncomfortable for the time periods I need to wear them(up to 6-7 hours on an almost daily basis with some days needing them on for longer to boot) I figure it might be worthwhile to invest in something new but I know pretty much zip about the bands and products and all that, having had the same headset be problem free for over 3 years and all.

I can put up about 150$CAD for this, overall my budget is flexible but I'm not really bargain hunting either and other than that I just needs a good mic and preferably USB so I can make full use of it with my laptop, included volume/mic controls would also be good, whether that's part of the headset itself or on the cord doesn't really matter.

I've thought about wireless but we got a few routers kicking around and I keep my cell on me constantly and seeing as most use the 2.4 GHz that'd lead to lots of potential interferrence. With the way my set up is I don't mind having a cord honestly as long as it's a decent length so I don't need to take them off if I want to stand up or something! xD

    Any Suggestions?

Totally worth it, you can get it cheaper than what Logitech is trying to sell it for though.

I literally have my phone next to the transmitter and a router within 1 meter, works fine throughout the whole house. A class 1 Bluetooth adapter does an even better job by the way.

My selling point was the fact it had a nice fit on my head, even while wearing glasses, besides being wireless obviously.

Can i shove in my request too? i broke 2 headsets over the course of i think 3 years. This one lasted almost a year. They keep breaking (physically) in some place or the other. The last one broke in half at the top. The current one broke in half at one of the sides, just above the pivot point. I don't know why, but i think i have a slightly wider head than the average person or so, and the headsets aren't made for that apparently. It sucks.

Anyone know a good headset that, like, lasts? i bought one for 80 and 60 euros. So that's about the budget.

I've bought a logitech G930 many years ago and it is still rocking ^^

I almost never have connection problems when the USB is connected to the mobo itself, via USB adapters it doesn't always get a stable connection. With it I can walk around the house easily and I don't have wifi problems. I also love the 'over the ear' fitting which sits nicely and the sound quality is a lot higher than my 60 euro phillips 2.1 speakers.

Best buy I made for my pc, even though I had many doubts because of the prize.

Have you had any issues with the joints used to connect the ear pieces to the headband? I was looking at a G930 but it seems that the connection point breaking after about a year is very common and considering the way I "Store my headphones is to hang it off the edge of my desk by one of the ear peices as can be sorta seen here on the left side of the desk.

how does it work in terms of enabling/disabling it? at least the way things work for me right now because my current headset uses the old Speaker/Mic audio jacks I leave the mic plugged in all the time so I can use my mic without the headphones(I just hang it around my neck) and when I plug the listing part it it auto mutes my speakers and pipes everything to the head set, not sure how that would work with a USB type one honestly.

Not that I'd mind having to turn off my speakers or anything, just curious.

If you really want to place it like that then I won't suggest a G930 because like you said, the joints aren't that stong since you can turn the earpieces 90 degrees. I hang the headset with the band on my lamp or place it flat with the earpieces turned 90 degrees so it has no hanging weight.

Hmmmm....how wide is the headband front to back? I should be able to make a clip for it to hang from that under my desk if I go with something like that.

Dont do it, really bad sound and you end up having it plugged in 95% of the time, the similar one with the usb is fine and cheaper. Its 40 mm wide

Yes if you do not care about a wire, you should go for the cheaper blue one, which is essentially the same headset without the wireless. I bought this headset for the wireless since all my previous headsets died after dropping the headset after which it hung on the cable or driving over the cable. Both times the headband itself or the joint cracked at the side where the cable goes in.

And why would the sound be bad? This headset's sound is great after some slight tweaking. This is where the good Logitech gaming software comes in. The bass is very bad at first, it crackles very quickly, but this can easily be countered in the surround sound mixer by setting the max volume from 11 to 9 on each speaker ;)

For thickness of the headband, measured with ruler, 4.2 cm thick ;)

There probably are better headsets, but two years ago I choose this one and I still love it!!
You could wait for black friday though, I bought it for +/- 130 euros back then, when it was 75 euros a month later on black friday on amazon. Autch :p

A cord isn't automatically bad, but one of the bigger issues with my current headset(other than it being broken) is that even with a longer cord it's still not something I can easily move around with and it doesn't really hold on to my head all that well it starts sliding and falling off is I tilt my head or if it gets jolted in pretty much any way.

The G930 is fairly sensitive to wireless interference. If you have a lot of wireless stuff using 2.4GHz around it, it will cut in and out annoyingly. Also, the drivers are can be finicky, resulting in crackling in some programs. (In my case, PA, though it doesn't always happen.) With those two complaints in mind, I enjoy it very much. I'm switching to a Corsair Vengeance 2100 sometime in the near future, but I still plan on using my G930 regularly.

I actually ended up picking upa G930 as part of Black Friday sale stuff, it's pretty nice but I need to get used to talking with it because it muffles sound so much better than my last headset(which basically didn't muffle anything at all) so it's been kinda awkward! xD

Both lamps are actually the same Ikea Lamp just that I took the reflector off, I have like 5 of those lamps that I use everywhere.
