New PTE build up

    Ya, thought i'd just report it here.

    Also, it's been 10 minutes with my opponent disconnected and he hasn't auto self destructed yet.

    *Also, pause game isn't capitalised in the main menu like the other options

    I thought auto destruct was 12 minutes? Unless it's been changed...

    Not that sc2 should be our model but they go 20% x4. 18% x1 and 2%

    Though I hope our highest league is broader than 2 % as our player base is way smaller making it more difficult to climb anyway.

    The top players are still so far ahead of the rest that there isn't much point letting them play in the same league as a lot of other people.

    They will inevitably play those inferior people as our player base is so much smaller.

    The league is just a badge, I really doubt it has anything to do with match selection, that will still be determined by your ELO/Glicko-2/TrueSkill rating.

    Played the PTE last night and it was a lot of fun. Can't wait for some mirrored maps and some ladders :)

    We're looking into ways to make it more obvious that a match is ready when your game is minimized. :)

    Please! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, use the 5 second "Arree youuu readdyyyy???" Vid that PA stats gave.. I hate that thing so much even after only hearing it a single time lol!

    It was even worse when they had that awfully loud uber cannon sound at the start :p It was nice at the end when you could turn it on or off. It can come in handy sometimes, but maybe uber can find a less annoying way of doing it :D

    Are all the ladder maps going to be mirrored? And if not, when will mirrored maps be used and when will random maps be used? I kind of prefer random maps with random spawn points. With mirrored maps we lose some of the randomness and this creates those set build orders (like Starcraft) where people go the same builds every time.

    Right now what we have isn't random because there is a map pool, but it asymmetric and unbalanced. I do enjoy asymmetric and balanced, but that is very hard to do. Symmetric will always be balanced, but it may or may not be random.

    I don't believe that a map needs to be symmetrical to be 100% balanced. And I don't believe a match needs to be 100% balanced anyway.

    If it's just for fun then it doesn't. If it's competitive then the only factor influencing the outcome should be the skill of the players.

    Yes exactly, the skill to adapt. Randomness is what makes it exciting and it was the lack of randomness which caused me to become bored of Starcraft. I'm not saying one person should start on a moon with little mex and the other on the metal planet with plenty mex (that would be totally unbalanced), but maps don't have to be 100% symmetrical for the match up to be balanced..
