When I read the comment, I took it as an acknowledgement that balance has changed since then. Unit balance and map size are so closely related that one cannot be discussed without considering the other.

Units used to be slower, which did make maps feel bigger, but I'm still very skeptical that radius to planet size hasn't changed.

You can just tell by how the planet generated, or by comparing unit size. I don't think there was ever a mass unit size reduction, other than when they made t2 a bit smaller (remember when levelers were huge! )

I've actually been playing PA since before the system editor was even a thing, I think I started playing in... June or July, joined the forums because someone told be of the discussions. I made a few comments and stuff, disappeared for a year (still played a lot) appeared back last April or May and now I've been going full steam ahead. =P

Looks like the voting is showing ppl want more 900 radius planets :D

Personally I've had buckets of fun on the big planet both winning and losing.

Constant scouting and Intel becomes so important.

Games have more a tug of war feel with comebacks possible and sneaky plays easier to hide snatching certain victory from a complacent opponents hand.

So hoping uber takes this pool into consideration and makes half the ladder 900 + radius type planets.

Love to see more large planet games.

Would also love to see some more themed competitions that have special rules to mix thing up, really mess with the meta.

Like, bot factory 20 (Insert local currency here) cup! Or the orbital layer duke, where the only combat units can be orbital ones, leading to some intense fabber on fabber action to build umbrellas, and tear down an opponents.

looking at the current maps most of them are 600 in size. I'd say that is rather small. Why have the map makers decided that 600 is the 1v1 standard in the first place?

They believe the 1v1 community likes all games completed in under 12 min?
