Haven't played for a few months but I'm loving the game so far except I can't seem to find an optimal Starting build. Anyone wanna share?

    commander stream:
3 bot factory, 1 air factory, 3 pgens, bot factories

    fabber stream
1 fabber from first factory onto metal

+2 fabbers once commander has built 2nd pgen. 1 of those fabber on pgens constantly, 1 fabber on metal

    Factory stream
Dox dox dox, bomber, fighter, dox, dox dox dox

    fabber stream
3 fabbers from first factory. first on metal, 2nd on pgens constantly, third on metals as wlel

    Factory stream
dox dox dox dox dox dox dox

Essentially the dox are the basis for your army, but later supported by pretty much any unit make them even better.

Only in the competitive games that is.

Us filthy, filthy casuals have a absolute blast playing with all the units.

Later game it's often a good idea to get either:

    1: more air
2: Tanks (depends on planet size).

The whole "meta is only dox" is really realted to small maps played 1 v 1 that end within 10 minutes.

Once someone has a large blob of tanks, no amount of dox can really stop it, the tricky bit is timing it, due to the fact you need more investment in factories to counteract the longer roll off time.

Mostly what cdrkf/Elodea said. Nobody would doubt Elodea's builds. They are 1v1 focused, but viable in almost any matchup that I can recall playing.

In team play you can sometimes mix it up a little and go for a surprise tele/air fac/vehicle fac; getting extra air factories after the first 5-6 bot factories to start hammering enemy dox blobs and gaining air superiority is also not the worst idea.

I should also point out that the dox phase of the game starts to end as soon as their room for manoeuvre starts to fall away, and they have to start blobbing to become effective (dox are pretty much the worst blob unit due to their low hp and ***-tastic range). Tighter maps make vehicles more effective sooner; you can also spam up some walls to protect your vehicle build-up to prevent your opponent trading in useless dox blobs for valuable vehicles. Judging the transition correctly is what wins 1v1s against people who aren't Elodea.

I feel that going only tank factories works too and is underrated. Just use your first tanks to defend your expansion and then you can start to slowly overrun your opponents who have a lot of dox and less tanks. You just have to get your tanks in the good positions to defend. You should not worry too much about the enemy expanding more than you because of little harass since it isn't normal to build many fabs in the current meta anyways. It works better on some maps ofcourse. It is harder to do on moons for example (but why would you want to play on a boring grey ball :p)

Probably need to use a few bombers to cut off your enemy's expansions, because if you forgo early raiding, and your enemy is going dox, they will have you running all around with your slow tanks, defending your fledgling expansion while they are free to do whatever they want, fewer fabbers or no. You let them get the eco edge and transition to tanks... you're gonna be in trouble.

    Scouting is key.

In the right place, even the humble boom can change a war.
