Biome work might not be *as* important anymore.

    Nice! This is good news.

I am really looking forward to having better terrain. The in game terrain got boring a while ago. Being able to edit what we have right now will already be a huge improvement though! I'm already thinking of some bad*** map ideas now.

Out of curiosity and an inability to remember, were more complex features like plateaus removed purely due to pathing? Or were there other issues? Such as problems telling height differences from straight up?

Honestly making brushes should be pretty easy so I think it's *more important* to get the tools required.

    The main things we need:
1: Direct editing capabilities (in progress).
2: An integrated map sharing system like 'system sharing' that will allow people to share these custom systems. Note something will have to be done about transferring any custom brushes (are they included with the map? or does the server recreate the map and require the brushes locally?)
3: Maybe a way of submitting new brushes to a central repository so they can be used by other people (probably the least important)?

I agree more art assets for biomes from Uber would be great- still I'd rather they put the tools in first. We have plenty of good modellers here in the community so with that we can run with it.

The biomes actually looked a lot like what they do in those concepts, the lava biome had deep lava pools rather than a flat painted on lake, and the desert biome was covered in mesas.

It was nice, I wish it'd be in the game again. They had caused patching issues and we're removed, but the brushes are still hidden in the files.

All I can say is now that we will have an editor, working on biomes isn't *as* important anymore, it's still important, but not as important. :p

Implementing brushes is easy, literally just geometry with one bone to show where it's supposed to be placed. (The game places the single bone where it's told to, the mesh being attached to that.)

This could be really awesome....... No problem having an editor in the hands of modders or map makers, I just hope that we get the "right" tools and assets to create what we want to create like having cliffs, raised terrian like the lava biome, mix and match two or three different biomes all together on planets, being able to create real canyons would be awesome! and perhaps modders could add brand new biomes, remember back in alpha someone created new alien worlds that mimic'd Spore planets.... thats the sort of thing that would really interest me.......

I would love a color pallete for the lava though, definitely needs to be bloom'd and better color added, not the blanket orange we have now.....

This is awesome news, if this really is true, I'd love to have an official word on the matter, perhaps its a secret feature they've been working on for awhile now or something but just the idea of being able to manually make the planets how we want would be fantastic!!! and the terrain, the landscape and the biomes!! heck yes :D
