    We might be better off now, actually. Because Uber is working on a map editor, generation isn't *as* important. We can add whatever mesas we want in the future. :D

    Oh I see, in which case so do I it looks really fun.

    This game guys, this game. I think of the potential and my face melts.

    They should rip out the pebbledash jigsaw piece 'stuff' that they chuck on planets and focus on this kind of thing instead, it looks so much cooler and adds much more strategic value. Like when you get a map that has 5 mountains in a line next to each other, we just have a ramp plateau accessible only from one side or something, something that adds strategic value to the experience.

    I'm getting carried away.

    Those screens though.

    Are they really? I assumed "Add/Remove CSGs" might just be a switch to enable/disable CSG brushes during planet generation.

    That's actually just a setting that one has to set for brushes, no need for old or new meshes:
    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/wip-mapeditor.65201/#post-1019440
    The settings include an option to scale brushes by single axes as well. So you can make stretch them into the height as well.

    From the work on the map editor I can tell you that the CSG brushes right now support being added to fixed positions. So it should not be hard to do that for Uber.

    The real question is, does @jables want the job (or does he even have a choice)?!

    Was he tied to a chair and sent to the clearing at the end of the path by way of a single Holkins shell?

    @jables
    Really, really nice update !!!!! Thank you so much !!!
    Have just one question : Is Biome improvement (sloaps, ramps) something likely to appear in 2015. I mean, from a technical perspective, can we reasonably expect this is something that can be done and that can be handle with the new pathfinding implementation ? Or is it something we definitly have to forget ?
    I will not blame at all Uber for this. I perfectly understand the complexity of all these technologies Uber has worked on. Simply would like to know if at some point the engine will be able to handle more complex biomes or if there are technical limitations that will make such stuff impossible to do.
    Thanks !

    So I don't have an official answer, so nothing confirmed ;)

    That being said, we are experimenting with cooler planets and terrain that plays more part of gameplay. A lot of the pathfinding improvements you see in the update notes are going to help support this. So yeah, we totally want to do stuff like this, but until we prove it will be awesome, we won't be able to really promise it.
