When will large-scale terraforming (planet smashing) come?

    Hello,

There has not been any word on when planet-collisions will be able to turn battlefields into balls of fire (like in the PA Kickstarter trailer), yet this so-called "large-scale terraforming" is listed as a confirmed feature in this list here.

The result of planet collisions should be more like this:

    And less like this:

The main question is: Is this type of awesome gameplay feature going to appear in a future update or has this idea been thrown out the window already? If it is going to appear, what are your thoughts about said feature?

P.S. Also, when are asteroids coming?

If smashes did that, why have annihilasers?

It would be cool if the planets that took the most amount of halies did that but not the little ones.

I like that idea. I'm guessing that this feature should only occur on planets with ten or more Delta V engines?

you could have the scale of the biome change dependant on the size of the asteroid collision. So small impacts would only create lava and cracks around the crater and such.

It would be cool if half the planet did indeed, turn into lava, and other side barely surviving, then slowly vegetation would start growing again and the planet *healing* but not the epicenter of the smash...that will always be lava =D

Adding a second crater "skin" for larger planets with lava cracks and such would be an excellent move; while we're at it, make ocean craters properly remove ocean, with the same lava cracks and an added steam effect as water pours in and boils at the edges.

To be fair you'd still have a battlefield, not sure if metal spots would still exist.

Basically Annihilaser = no more planet, giant smash = lava planet.

I was under the impression that this was planned to be the final effect for equal-ish sized planet smashes, where currently both planets just disappear. like, just a cosmetic thing representing the dead planet that is no longer 'in the game', but doesn't just pop out of existence weirdly.

Ahh, wishful thinking. That KS is done and you know it, HR will never see the light of day. And planet smashes are a 'done' feature. Don't expect anymore major graphical or mechanical additions to PA.

How did you know that PA won't receive any more major graphical/mechanical additions, by any chance?

Well, it's a visualization after all. No masterplan.
I think the planet smashing should *at least* look nicer, because it...doesn't do justice to the original trailer or the Annihilaser.

Its an internet forum, you're supposed to assume the worst about everything all the time. Have you not been doing that?
