Are we allowed to make commanders available to those who haven't purchased them in server mods?

    This.

Im not even that great of a modeller, let alone even start to understand coding needed to make a plugin.

I suppose, but it gets a little scary when Raevn, someone of very much experience in a slightly (I'm assuming here) different area hasn't gotten it to work in a year..

It makes it seem like a huuuge task.

I assume you basically have to find patterns in the code of the .papa. which must be how he figured out geometry, apparently it has to do with 3d math (well obviously) in which @raevn has said he's not the best at. I actually don't even know any from my understanding. :L

We should ask the guy who made that Importer/exporter for SupCom unit files for 3d max :) Robotnonik or something like that XD

Right, it is different. They would be more likely to be ok with modding the client than unlocking commander models on the server for anyone that joins the game.

You guys need to remember that we backed a PA with MOD SUPPORT . That doesn't mean forcing us to reverse engineer their conversion tool. Instead it means THEY should be showing us how to do it, or releasing a tool that actually works.

You guys should be ashamed. Putting down your money and time whilst being ignored by uber.

What are you even talking about? You have no idea how much has gone into making mods easy to implement.

I don't even know what that has to do with anything..

Yeah... As a modder I can't say I have ever stopped being impressed at this game for how easy it is to change. There are some areas where the api and documentation is still obviously incomplete, but we're happy to either wait or hack around it.

Oh yes, so easy to implement that you can't import ANYTHING from 3ds max. oh wait, that's the opposite of what you just said! Hmmm are we modding the same game??

Clearly we are modding the game and you are not.

Oh, let's see you import a model from 3ds max. No? Can't do it? That's what I thought.

There are more than unit mods you know? You're being entirely self centered, especially considering there's the importer/exporter by Raevn that works for most units, other than commanders and bots.

They've helped SO much with modding, client side mods, implementing server mods waaay before offline was in was amazing.

You've barely been here, if you've been around as long as us you'd know how much Uber has helped make modding easy.

3d modelling is far from the only form of modding. I know nothing about it, but it seems you may have found an area that can be improved on. However, others have been successful in importing models so it is likely that the problem is not with the game. Have you tried asking them what they did?

They've explained it once before I believe, but I don't think it's exactly what we needed.

The issue at the moment is we don't know how to get animations through papatran, nor any units with rotated bones with the blender exporter.

In fact... We don't know how to get bones through papatran either, even though we did exactly what we were told to do- at least that we know of! XD

Not sure what the issue is, but the blender exporter/importer works for the most part, the only acceptions being bots and other units with rotated bones.

Ok so there definitely is some piece of the puzzle missing there. Mod support in this game is still better than anything else I have ever seen in terms of ease of access. Javascript, html, and json control everything except the models!

You seriously need to step down from your fanboy podium and realize there are big problems that need to be solved.

I simply find better, less hostile ways to bring issies to the attention of people that can fix them. I have been involved in getting the devs to fix problems on more than one occasion. How well has your approach been working for you?

There is a problem here. Someone should let the devs know. If that's not enough, a whole group of modders should write a letter and ask for a resolution. My guess is they do know about this but just haven't had the time to fix it yet.

Honestly when people get to the point that they're just calling people a fanboy, I know there's no point in a conversation. Normally it means the person either knows they've failed the argument, or just can't come up with good enough retorts that make sense. It'd be like us calling them a troll and dismissing them.

Like you've said, there have been very helpful to modding, so many times the devs have helped make modding simple. Helping put in the api required for us, giving us this amazing, completely customizable ui. Giving us the ability to have server mods, and upload them to Uber's own servers to play on, months before offline release... Uber has been amazing when it's come to mods, I'd say it's one of the strong suits of the whole game in fact.
