Are we allowed to make commanders available to those who haven't purchased them in server mods?

    If I wanted to make a mod where imperial, tank, quad, and raptor commanders had different HP, movement, and build speed stats and where uber laser, uber missile, and uber cannon commanders had different weapon stats, I'd have to create two new tank commanders and make 6 other commanders that normally must be purchased or that are exclusive to their maker available to everyone in order to allow everyone to have the full roster of stat combos. Would this be allowed?

    A mod that unlocks all commanders for the point of unlocking commanders should obviously be banned. But this one is unlocking a few specific commanders (no more than is needed) for gameplay purposes.

    What other model?

    There are only 6 default commanders and 12 would be needed for this mod. This mod required 3 imperial commanders, 3 quad commanders, 3 raptor commanders, and 3 tank commanders. Only raptors have the required amount, and all are uber cannon equiped. We can make two additional tanks, but until the exporter is fixed the same cannot be done for imperial and quad commanders nor can we change which weapons the raptor commanders use.

    For this sort of mod additional commanders are requisite and we can't make new imperial, quad, or raptor commanders.

    Well so you may want to contact Uber to buy the license to use those models?
    Just because you *need* something does not mean you can take it for free.

    But get into Modelling, and make your own :p Once Uber releases the Tools needed to do so that is XD

    Commanders at present that would be enabled (Where slashes are existent only one would be chosen, those are the options)

    We don't need any additional uber cannon equiped coms. There are no laser or missile commanders enabled by default, however.

    I'm leaning Theta, Able, Potbelly79, SacrificialLamb, Iwmiked, Zaazaa.


    Imperial commanders that would need to be made available by default in the mod: Theta/Chronoblip, Aryst0krat/Delta/Progenitor/Able/Sangudo/Chessknight

    Quad commanders that would need to be made available by default in the mod: Shadowdaemon/Xinthar/Gambitdfa/Potbelly79, Armalisk/SacrificialLamb

    Raptor Commanders that would need to be made available by default in the mod: Iwmiked, Zaazaa

    The whole point of this thread was to see what Uber's stance is. I am not going to be doing anything with this idea other than the infrastructure that I needed to set up for Statera anyway until I know what Uber's stance is. This is basically saying "I want to do this thing but I can't without letting people use commanders that they wouldn't have otherwise".

    A fairly easy change to make that would make it so that I wouldn't have to use Iwmiked and Zaazaa would be to give Rallus an uber laser and Centurion an uber missile.

    That's what I'm already planning on doing for tank commanders but this isn't possible at the moment for raptor, imperial, or quad commanders.

    From my work on rescale PA I had the feeling that we do know enough about those file formats to export into them though?

    Copy-paste the existing models, changing the stats? I see nothing wrong with bypassing the drm if you change the models to things everyone can use. Although you might find it easier to not bypass the drm (I have no idea), instead add new units (although this would involve a client mod). WYSIWYG is not vital imo.

    I don't want two commanders that both have the same weapon on the model to have a different weapon ingame, nor do I want two commanders that look identical but have different stats.

    From what I can tell the default commander list is in the lobby server script in the states server script folder. Changing the default commanders isn't a question of is it possible/easy, it's a question of if it's allowed.

    We can't export into them until the exporter has been fixed though; currently any models with rotated bones (eg all non tank commanders) cannot be exported.

    Nobody has made an exporter that exports rotated bones correctly, and nobody can get anything through papatran either! XD

    @stuart98 there's nothing stopping you, but the morality of it.

    I'm making a mod at the moment with different abilotys/stats for every free commander. BUT every paid commander will have one of the free commanders stats.

    Someone might as well start working on a proper importer/exporter for 3ds max to XD

    It's definitely not easy, but it's more because Raevn just isn't too good in that specific area- if we knew someone who knew more about stuff like that, it'd probably have existed by now.
