Is there a way to avoid systems with planets on a collision course?

In the last 2 days I played 2 games that ended because 2 planets collided (no halley involved). Is there a way to avoid these systems? I understand that it makes for a cool gameplay if every player is aware of this but in our case we weren't (local games).
    Thanks!

well i guess its luck of the draw my friend but you can randomize the systems or just choose from the set systems given to your or even make your own also.

i would love to see that happen in at least one game i play

I made a system last night where the two starting planets were on an opposite-rotation course to graze one another... it worked better than I expected, with only a small crater (about the size of a T2 air factory) present after they nicked each other, but still producing a hefty explosion.

That said, unavoidable collisions need to be handled very carefully to avoid them just being boring.

    Building custom systems.

Or if there are planets on a collision course you could always just smash a planet.

That sounds cool. I wonder if the would strike at different points each time they nicked.

Create game type where ok you get 15 bots per 3 min orbit till next strike.

    Place.

Points awarded to each player for number of bots killed by collision.

    Lol

Spacey idea. Tired. Just seemed like fun thought.

Like a user map settings game in sc2

Just watched your system editor video, it looks super easy, I'll do a custom system tonight:
    - 1 death star
    - 1 smashable planet
    - 2 bigger planets of the same size with the same amount of metal where users can spawn
    (I usually play 2v2 locally)

I always make my own lobbies, so no nasty surprises for me.
