ok really now? (Amphibious Dox, naval balance)

    dox in the water.

    I thought we'd been over this.

    dox are like the only freaking unit on the roster right now. Stop this madness.

    Slammers can go under watter ._. and slammers can actually shoot torpedoes at naval stuff above it

    yes. it's bullshit. we can't have anfibs be a whole whopping tech tree. and more importantly the game balance isn't ready for anfibs right now.

    The best naval unit in the game is a bot.

    if there were more naval, like a torpedo rain boat. we could invalidate this bullshit.

    but either way, right now, having the harass-type unit that's also the faster unit-type in the game get the fastest map navigation because it gets to cut through water invalidates the tank tech tree entirely.

    It's a Com-killer, base-leveler, tough-unit-swarmer, .....your ultimate all-purpose unit.

    why should you ever choose to build anything else?

    Do can't actually attack in the water though, and that ability is only useful on maps with water. So no moons, lava planets, or metal planets.

    they can. I just got out of a game where I was fighting shoreline units with my in-water dox

    also the fact that there is no water on other planet biomes in no way counteracts, contradicts or fixes what I said about them shortcutting.

    Dox and slammers moving half speed through water and Dox being unable to shoot from underwater would be fair changes. Being able to march Dox through water, however, adds some tactical value and depth. Slammers being able to fire torps at boats could stand a nerf, but not necessarily a removal.

    Naval SERIOUSLY needs some love though. No question.

    Replay ID please. Was it a modded game?

    According the Unit Database (get's it's data from the gamefiles) Dox do not have a underwater weapon (thier weapon lacks the underwater tag Torpedo launcher on slammer has). Anywhere they should be able to user thier guns, turrets and bolo's should be able to counter them.

    As squishy said, they can walk underwater. They should not be able to shoot while beign down there (if nothing else thier 75m range will make it pretty impossible for them to reach anything not down with them).

    *edit*Dox should not, and do not shoot while they are in water, so either this is a bug, or OP is mistaken.

    Dox can fire whilst their torso is above the water I.e. in shallow water, which makes sense. So they can fire when near the shore line. When fully submerged they can't fire.

    Also tanks win games in my experience. Dox are good raiders, but a large group of tanks shred them, as do bombers.... Dox are the best starting unit, but they don't invalidate everything else imo.
