I'm decide to create dedicated topic for this thread so might be there will be higher chance for an answer. Originally Sorian has posted this answer in his topic. And long time ago @bgolus has talked about true line of sight there: Any chance these voxels used by pathfinding can make true line of sight might become possible within PA engine?
Presumably you mean visualizing it to the player? Since the quotes you cite literally* say that true--but not visualized--line of sight is possible. *Feels almost redundant to call it literal when it is literally** typed down. **I did it again!
The voxel data is in very specific data format for the nav flow fields, and not in a form available to the GPU. If we were to make the voxel data available to the GPU it basically means doubling all of that data in a different format. I previously also talked about how useless actual line of sight fog of war would be since most units will see the one polygon they're on, and maybe some mountain tops around them because ... sphere planets. It's also already super duper expensive to render the fog of war for the 500+ units on screen, making them voxel shadowed vision really isn't realistic yet.
