So i have noticed that we have some Alienware users and i want to ask are they good? if not what else i should get Option list (open to new options): -Alienware 14 (with a bit of custom changes) -Alienware x51 -Alienware Alpha (Steam Machine, Coming out November) -Building my own or get an Xbox 1, PS4 and a OUYA with some games
Yeah you're better off building it yourself. Or at least choosing your own parts and getting someone who knows what they're doing to build it.
other than building any good laptops or Desktops for gaming? what do you guy's use to play PA? and how well is it.
... i picked all the parts for if i was going to and i ended up with a total of $6000 + tax here is what i picked Spoiler: Parts Intel® Core™ i7-5960X Processor Extreme Edition (20M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)-$1000 GeForce GTX TITAN Z-$3,359.99 MSI X99s Gaming 9 AC-$450 Pioneer 16x blue ray burner-$100 SilverStone Geminie Series 550W PS/2 Redundant Power supply-$525 Intel® 730 Series 480GB Solid State Drive-$615 Corsair Vengeance Blue 16GB 1600mhz-$200 Cooler Master JetFlo Case Fan (x2)-$30 SilverStone TJ11-BW Temjin Series Full Tower Case-$670
You might want to add a CPU to your build, but that's totally up to you of course. Who knows, you might be okay without one... And the TITAN is total overkill unless you have that kind of money to throw around.
Alienware is pretty overpriced. If you buy your own parts, you can save up to 50% on some parts (that's what I saved when I shopped around). Although your savings depend on where exactly you are based.
1. can't belive i forgot the CPU 2. if i build they wont be those parts but i seem to always end up looking at the expensive stuff. 3. other than alienware being overpriced is it okay? 4. i live in canada so there isn't any places here... but there is some in the U.S
If you live in canada I suggest looking at prices on http://www.shopbot.ca/ for a start. Alienware is fine if you hate money (or you are too lazy to build one yourself). If you're willing to pay more to avoid a little inconvenience then go for it, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. If you build your system yourself it's a lot easier to maximise what you actually want and minimise wasting on stuff you don't need. EDIT: What's your monitor size and resolution?
What resolution will you be running with your new machine? This is pretty important in determining how useful your GPU is.
If you know the model I can find it. Do you have a monitor yet or do you still need one? If your resolution is higher than 1920x1200 your titan will be doing its job as intended, otherwise it's a waste. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-970-maxwell,3941-8.html If you look through the images on this page you will see charts comparing graphics cards on different resolutions. There are some very big differences. At 3840 x 2160, a GTX 980 will run Battlefield 4 on high graphics with 34 fps (minimum) and 47 fps (average).
okay i got a new list what one would you get? (no mater the price) -Acer Predator G -E3iO Scorpion Series -HP ENVY 810 -Toshiba Qosmio -Alienware 14 -Alienware Alpha -Alienware 51x
that looks good. dunno why 1600mhz corsair for ram though? is it me or is that stuff more contagious than zombies? you could also bump it up to 32gigs in the spirit of giving PA what it deserves (RAM) and being more symmetric across your build. go for the new dddr4 ram if your getting a 2011-3 mobo, that's like the only reason to build on that standart in the first place (other than that badass cpu). look so here's corsair again at the highest price. why? god only knows. highest speed? nope. look down 3, *boop* kingston highest speed and cheaper then the slower corsair. I said it, do with it what you will. you never want to add fans to a case. Fans are to be kept to a minimum and at their maximum size. However, I see no cooling selected. either H100i or H110 plus indigo extreme for that mobo. (might as well go h100 if you choose h100i, the h100 is the only one with manual pump speed (which I take advantage of because you get great temps for running it on max but sound-wise it's still completely muffled out by minimum fan speed) don't keep the stock fans on those though. scythe are pretty good. as for the graphic card... it seems to me like a waste of money to go Titan-Z... :/ ... here's why : http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html i can't work with this list because all of these are truncated names. you need to give the full product reference like this : Toshiba Qosmio X70-A-13H here goes anyways. Toshiba and Alienware 14 are out of the race. You cannot stack up laptops against desktops. they both loose to the lowest of the desktops in this list. if alienware alpha is priced at 500 then so are it's specs. Shoo. HP equipped with GT 640. out! (it's sad because it's the only one to offer 16gb of ram at base price too!) after that I'm left with the acer, scorpion and alienware x51. The scorpion is select-your-component, and the Acer has five variants. If I take the lowest priced in each scorpion comes last and acer first. If I upgrade the scorpion from it's unfair i3 then it can be best but at stupid prices that nobody wants to pay so I think the scorpion is generally out. Acer wins here but they don't have an option for the predator that has 16gb of ram (one does have 12 gb, though but still, IMO the hardware is still rather disjointed). so if I HAD to choose at gunpoint i'd say the acer. You could buy the Predator AG3-605-UR2E/Predator AG3-605-UR2F (difference is one has an extra terabyte storage and a stepped up cpu for a resulting 0.20 GHz more for +150$) and a cheap 16gb (or 32) kit to replace the 8 gigs they have.
