    This
    & this. Amazing, as a side note, i like the idea where the planet has to be fired on continuously to explode, so say the two metal planets where to be fired on one another, instead of destroying eachother, they would suddenly be "beam-locked."

    Although Slamz idea isn't bad, is rather have it be a battle of energy.

    To explain:

    First, the metal planet would have to be firing continuously at a planet for say... 7 seconds to destroy it.

    2nd. If the two metal planets where to be firing at eachother & connect beams within these seven seconds (arbitrary number btw, I like the number 7 so I'm using it as an example) they would then be in a state of "beam power lock"

    3rd. In order for one side to overcome the other, they would have to host the better of the two in energy production and/or storage.

    4th. During the "power duel," the beams would continually draw power at an exponential rate until the point that one player has a Power Eco crash, which would result in a victory. While the beams are active, ANY & ALL planets that happen to stray between the beams (& sun if that ever becomes a thing, SUPERNOVA FTW!!!) will be destroyed due to the excessive amount of power generated. & as a way to demonstrate who's beams are who's, the beams would be colored to the corresponding team color firing it. While you can wait for the enemy to crash their power, you always have the option to just nuke their catalysts & prematurely stop there Attack. Also, any orbital (wether it be an astraues or a nuke) should take a path that will avoid the beam, as I would personally would want it to be destroyed on contact if it strayed in between the beams.

    @garat, what do you think?

    EDIT
    Ps. Sorry for the two week necro, just saw this thread.
