[WIP][Server] Orbital Warfare Overhaul

    nah it's really well worth it.

    when it's done I get to stream the apps to my linux desktop and there should no longer be any limitation on what I can install.

    Ah yeah, I remember that art... If you manage to texture it, can we steal it from you? I've always thought that that unit should be in the game... Probably gonna start as an avenger reskin but still.

    Thanks for helping out! Would you still need me to mark the seams and do the UV unwrapping? I am still learning how to unwrap properly, but I am getting better add it.

    Also I have tried using blender's Smart UV project in the past. When I do that, the texture looks good in Blender, but it is stretched and distorted when in game.

    Yall have dome some really cool looking models, but are they all going to look like space battleships?

    (Not that there is anything wrong with that, this is a mod after all, and I support mod creativity to it's max(At least I hope I do))

    Not 100% sure what would define what a space battleship is meant to look like, the definition may vary from person to person. Really it's down to 'do YOU think it looks like a space battleship?'.

    Anyway here's a pic which I am going to borrow from mgmetal13's other thread.

    Spoiler Alert!:
    We will also be adding a variety of new satellite based units to the mod (Some models have been done, but I am going to wait a bit longer before revealing them).

    At this point we are also considering adding a few new units to the other layers. At first they will only be units which interact with orbital in some way, but we are looking into adding a few more things once we feel that orbital is in a somewhat satisfactory state.

    Anyway you should have seen some of my earlier scrapped concept models. One looked like a sub. Was scrapped because it didn't fit the PA style mainly.

    The above image from an anime also shows how ships don't really have a defined shape and it is really up to the personal preference of the viewer.

    Well actually they do, navy ships have to deal with gravity, and so are built as such.

    Meh I don't mind the occasional conversation about stuff like this.

    Personal opinion here, realism is overrated, we're going for awesome. Feel free to post any art or suggestions here though (don't let my personal preferences stop you). Of course I'm not going to remodel everything, but I may end up using it as inspiration for some of my future projects.

    Let me know when you have your system set up. I can get you a nice labeled UV map for the hammerhead this weekend.

    If your not set up yet that's ok, I still have lots of rigging and unwrapping to do for the other models.

    yeah. sorry I haven't gotten started yet. I have to anyways, there's just about nothing that works anymore. While trying to set up the community livecast I installed a compile-it-yourself (never again) ffmpeg which screwed my packages and now I have the wrong audio package and plenty of apps no longer works and updates don't work so this system is fucked anyhow.
