    It's easier to build things in C?

    I mean, I could understand C++ from a specific engineer's perspective, but . . . C? Are you sure?

    What software are you using on Linux, and have you made any attempts to look up comparable software that's actually primarily developed for Windows instead of the other way around?

    I meant c or c++, I find it much easier to do stuff with them in linux compared to windows. Comparable software is fine, yes I have found alternatives when necessary on windows. The software I use is the usual open-source stuff available on windows and linux, plus things for pa (pa, ts, obs), and paint dot net, and vm, and emulators.

    I use the GIMP on Windows, never had an issue with it. I have plenty of emulators too, nothing wrong with them either (well, Dolphin is in general unstable, but they've been working on that).

    I mean, sure, I get that people feel more comfortable using a Linux distro, MacOS or whatever. But that's subjective appreciation. Doesn't actually mean a lot when objectively contrasting two different OSs (insofar as Linux counts as one OS :p).

    I don't use gimp just because I prefer paint dot net and the plugins. In reality I could get by in any modern OS (as could most people). I'm primarily on 8.1 now, because of PA. I could even get by on a mac, despite not getting on with the interface.

    To get back on topic, I don't miss the start bar nor use metro in 8.1, so the return of the start menu doesn't mean much to me. Multiple desktops is a nice feature, I'm often doing multiple unrelated things so it's nice to segregate. CTRL-V in command prompt is a small feature but welcome. Other than that I can't see much noteworthy. Just given this information, it looks like a nice windows 8.2 update. Does it warrant a version bump from 8 to 9?

    FTFY ;)

    We'll find out soon if there are any other changes that make the jump more warranted.

    Once I got used to multiple desktops in my foray into the Linux world it was REALLY hard for me to go back to not having it in Windows. I'm sure there are still a few other things I'll miss from Cinnamon, but the things they're adding in 10 sound awesome.

    I'm not sure how Windows 8 handles the task bar, but having one on the bottom and on the right was super handy. I don't like how 7 makes me choose. I'm hoping 10 lets me have multiple task bars.

    I didn't like the sidebar. I just found it annoying.

    In Cinnamon I used it as a big system tray so that I could have all my temps, cpu/ram usage, remaining disk space, the time, and all those other things I need to keep tabs on for various reasons. Also a neato pair of eyes that looks at my mouse, but I'm not expecting that in Windows 10.

    I get that at that point isn't not really a task bar, but still it was nice to have.

    I'm talking about the right-side bar on Windows 8.

    Yep, I'm not a fan of the Charms bar either.

    Ah, the Start Menu grows with the tiles. That's good.
