Not sure if people have already seen this but it was first time for me and I found it quite interesting:

In particular the discussion starting around the 13-14min mark around server + offline was interesting in light of the way the game was actually released.

You should probably have noted in the OP that the video was back from 2012.

    Hi @Zainny

Plans from a couple of years ago don't always end up coming into fruition in the same way or at the time in which was originally desired. That can be applied to more than just Game Development.

    Cheers,

And here I was getting excited because I thought it was a new vid.
Please fix up the title of the thread so others don't get mixed up like I did.

Lol guys, stop being so defensive. I posted the video because it was interesting.

Yes, it's from 2012. Yes, it speaks to their original plans and things change. I get it.

    @Zainny

Apologies if I came across defensive. Certainly wasn't the intention at all.

    Cheers,

These old livestreams and interviews certainly formed high expectations. Uber talked about a lot of awesome stuff and people took it for granted and expected this stuff to be implemented along the way. Lots of stuff was dropped but the community never was informed, so people got upset. Again it all comes down to bad communication of this kind of stuff.

Nope. Omg... ...I was unaware of that video. And it's such a no-go.

For example, did they really say that what they pledge on Kickstarter was what they needed to complete the game?

    See the video around 10:12'.

ps. Beside, turn off your phone when you give an interview, c'mon...

TB abandoned PA when they startet selling pre-release boxed version with exclusive commanders, he made a video about it. You will 100% dont see another interview like this. Its kinda sadden me that TB was once as hyped about this as everyone else, but got let down like everyone else as well.

people are too fast to judge stuff. Be let down once development has stopped. Not before. Uber is far away from stopping development.

i mean i can understand what u get to, but its a fact that its officially released, theyre charging alot of money, for the game and skins, lets be honest, lately it didnt progress alot, huge jumps in the right directions would be needet. Its just... i feel like it would be SOOOO easy to get the dev team back on track you know. Stop implementing new stuff, rework the orbital, the naval, the ground, rework planet to planet travel, work on some kind of pathfinding, work out whats needet for a working minimap (the minimap doesnt have to be a square for example), add stuff to galactic war (like AI taking turns and premade bases), defenses more expensive, teleporter way more durable, less but more effective Iron spots, i even thought it would be the best for the game to remove the win condition of commander death (yeah it sounds weird), and implement some kind of random generated boarders on every planet, and every ground you control gives u win points per minute (like 5 for a small "country" and 15 for "big" you own), and first one with like 10 000 points (just a random number) wins the game. Where only ground units could capture the countries, or make that every country has 1 metal spot, and the one controlling that controls the "country". It would force player to expand as fast as possible, and improve the multiple planet war by far, because u would need as many "countries" as possible, and well, u could get those in the water only with naval technicans, so u need naval units to protect it.
Earlier and faster planet travel, quicker set up of outposts...

Yeah TB really doesn't like early access. It's always weird to see people who go all enraged about a game because of the buisness model behind it.

I won't even start discussing pay 2 win with you, I understand you hate it to a religious level.

Uh didn't see that quote at first.

Anyway I hope you realize your plan to improve the game is actually pretty complicated, long and I guarantee you, if magic would happen and you'd randomly be made the the CEO of Uber and could put your plan into motion, you'd release that:

1.) It's not gonna be fast to implement that stuff, you'll be working on it for month before you can release anything major. Don't think you can correctly estimate how long it will take to implement that stuff.
Correctly guessing how long it will take to implement complex computer programs like games is pretty much wizardry and not even veterans that have developed games for close to two decades are always correct on it (https://forums.uberent.com/threads/...dding-1-0-and-beyond.62147/page-2#post-966332).
Creating the same situation we have now from the outside: People wait, hoping for the best

2.) If you decide to publish updates on what you're doing you'll quickly find a perceived million people who think all your ideas are really bad and tell you that in sometimes pretty offensive ways.

3.) During implementing the features you describe you'll find that some of them suck, need to be altered or don't work out at all. Be glad if you decided not to give detailed information on what you'll gonna do before doing it or else the people in 2.) who thought that the idea was good won't understand why you didn't go through with it and call you a liar or worse.
