I luuuuuuuuuuuuv Steam, but the way it handles mods sucks a fat one. Ever used mods through Steam for Skyrim? Checks for updates on launch. What. The. ****? You're running a client in the background, why not just pick up the updates the same as you do for games: when they're released!

So no, until Steam get mod update mechanisms to not suck a separate client is better.

Until PA moves to Steam and steam alone (ie., never), a separate client is better ;)

Also, I have of course tried to implement PAMM inside PA. We just don't have the functionality required (specifically, write access to the filesystem).

You don't "move to Steam", you implement Steamworks. Let's not confuse our terms :p

Since PA also has a separate client from steam, I see no point in implementing workshop support. All it will do in the end is segment the modding community and alienate those who do not have nor want to activate PA through Steam.
