Metal spot icons not showing, even with the option turned on. I can't see orbital units traveling only a green line appears. Building bars do not show. Game crashes randomly. Sometimes the game last for at least 2 hours before crashing but rarely. it usually crashes after 10 mins. "N" point isn't showing.

    System specs:
    8 gb ram
    Ati hd 4870
    Intel core I5

Unfortunately it's known bug of AMD Legacy drivers.
Nothing you can do about that on Windows... :-(

Buying a new gfx card would fix it, and the rest of your system is still great.

There are numerous great not to expensive cards and your HD 4870 is outdated

Ah i see... Would you guys recommend a R9 270OC or should i get one of the older cards like a Gtx 660? or would the Gtx 750ti OC work better in the long term?

All of the listed cards are perfectly capable of running PA . the gtx 660 is however on the low end of the recommended specs but will run it for sure

Best would be not to chose the gtx 660 because the r9 270 / gtx 750ti will have a longer lifespan (they will run most games fine for the next few years)

R9 270 is a great value card and is faster than any of the others listed. I would also look at the R9 280 cards (if you can afford to) as the 280 is now end of line (after the launch of the newer 285) so there are some great offers going. The 280 is better for PA than a 285 due to its larger memory buffer (285 comes with 2gb gddr5, 280 has 3gb and PA *loves* memory). Otherwise they're about the same speed (the 285 is more energy efficient).

Having said that, if you want to play PA well without changing card right now, you could look at installing Linux... The HD 4800 range work fine under Linux as it uses different (up to date) drivers :) A good free Linux OS is 'Ubuntu' www.ubuntu.com, all that will cost you is a bit of time + a chunk of free HDD space, it can automatically steal a bit of space from Windows without effecting it (you'll get a choice of which OS to run at start up, want the other, just restart).
