I like how everybody is arguing about F2P and Total Annihilation 2... maybe it won't be a F2P game, maybe it will be? Maybe it will never see the day of light? You know that Wargaming did start as a RTS game developer before creating WoT and went F2P?

I'd fully expect to actually have to pay 30-80€ to play a game for real, even if it is f2p. That's around how much you have to pay anyway to play a non f2p game as well. So no real changes. In fact a f2p game probably will have me pay more over time and if the game is fun and I play it for years I honestly am totally fine with that.

So you ignore epicblaster and my responses, stating that your assertion is false, and choose only to engage with the rebuttal arguing that your assertion is a non-problem?

My secret plan if I ever hit the lottery.

I can agree that TA 2 can coexist with different gameplay than PA. I don't agree that PA is worse, but different approaches have different pros and cons.

I hear that TA and FA are much better than PA, but I just think they play entirely differently. I like classic flat map rts, but I can't see how PA seems boring compared, if anything it is the other way around, PA is less boring so I play more of it now along with the occasional flat map rts because after a match I recall the game too well for too many matches at once to retain interest.

I have played the Red Alert 2 campaign for instance at least ten times. I can play Red Alert 3 campaigns, but it doesn't retain my interest nearly as much as PA because the matches have different units but the roughly same structure.

well for a game for itself its a very good game, but as a TA Spiritual Sucessor or as a SupCom sucessor its a big mistake
well even if he didn't developed, or chosed the Eco and UPG things, he chosed the team that would work w/ him, so for me he is a George Lucas of TA... well at least after he get away we get this very good game, maybe the same happens to Star Wars!

Ehh I guess it is sorta the same as the prequels of star wars to go off the whole George Lucas of RTS's kinda thing, the Star wars prequels were good as movies on their own but as predecessors to the Star Wars franchise they were kinda meh.

I'm sure CT learned from his mistakes on sup2. Wish he would start working on kings and castles again, miss fantasy rts games... With war gaming funds he's got to be cooking something epic up, let's hope at least....having two epic rts games would be a gamers dream come true...

He did but not only that, he had to pay for that quadruple because it just kept piling on endlessly after the fact, poor guy : AOEO, wildman, kings and castles ECT.

So is there a man on earth that would be capable of a ****-up after all that pain? I doubt it.

This guy is gonna pull some awesome shi t even if he's constrained to a team like Wargaming, I garantee it.

yeah being constrained by a company that basically is drowning in money really has to be an unusual feeling for him.

another point to back what I'm saying, he'll do fine at wargaming.
by now TA2 is basically confirmed. they didn't even try to make the hinting and teasing subtle.

Ah Wargaming, pretty much guarantees we will get a P2W TA, a shame really, at least, a shame for those of you who can't afford to max out your stats with money.

An unfortunate and unavoidable truth about Pay-To-Win is that people will, without fail, pay almost anything so they can win. Been there, done that. When going out of a night can cost around a couple of hundred quid, it's easy to convince yourself that spending a fraction of that, can buy a lot of winning and 'save money' as a result. Hell, seeing as there's so much winning to be had, may as well drop a couple of grand on some virtual shiny things because crushing scrubs is too much fun!

The trouble with that of course is that the opportunities for spending even more money never quit. There are always higher tiers, better weapons, more ammo, special packages, boosters, skins and horse armour. All you are left with when all is said and done, is a giant case of buyers remorse. You realise you've spent all that money on something that wasn't even tangible and you've gained nothing from it. Except a wasted evening where you didn't even get laid!

Computer games, when they bite, they bite hard and when you're in that zone where you just have to shave another few 10ths of a second off your time, or you're on a roll that will see your K|D ration dramatically improve, it hits you in the same way that alcohol, gambling and drugs do. You need more and more and to add insult to injury 'better' and 'more' are only a click or two away! it's all just way too easy, insidious and borderline, if not outright wrong.
