i finally got the a reply from uber support, followed the instructions, activated PA on steam, now it is downloading the game all over again. can't i copy paste the game files from the non-steam version?
You can try to disable Steam client, copy files over and then try to check integrity of the game contents. Basically Steam and non-Steam versions aren't any different, but I not sure how Steam client would react. :-(
I made a few simple attempts, but steam seems to be using information from outside the app itself to decide it needs updating.
This works just fine, I always copied the early PTE's from launcher to my steam library and played pte via steam. But I do not know how steam will handle it when it hasn't installed the game before.
It handles it poorly. About the only way to avoid the first, fresh install is to load in a steam backup. Every other downloader/launcher/repair tool can do this. But steam is somewhat stupid during first installations.
