It's like chess, but with 1000 unit cap.

if i could mod i would structure supcom the way the TA: ESC mod did it for TA ... and add a couple more units for flexibility such as the extra hovercraft factory for water heavy maps ... tanks and bots would be devided .... i wouldn´t take away the hovercraftoptions from the vehiclefactory but just add those to the hovercraftfactory aswell among other options, additionaly a experimental factory so experimentals would be needed to be build in those but still assistable ...

these mods exist. you can try black ops, experiemental wars, or Total Mayhem
technically 12000 ....and there's a mod that removes unit cap.

I dunno man, black ops seemed to have only a few additions, and not many boats.

Well im not really a T3, shield or experimental kinda guy you know?

And most mods if not all tend to focus on them exclusively.

not true Exprerimental wars and orbital wars, you get to build units and different tech trees from t1.

there's also brew lan. but all of those mods ad units at every tier. And Total mayhem is especially crazy in terms of units added since it starts from scratch : D

or if you're just looking for lots of new units and gimmicks, might as well try nomads. The fifth race.

I have tried Brew Lan, but I dunno, I didn't notice much different from vanilla other then the extra shields and storage buildings.

The T1 artillery turret was cool however.

Edit: But I will have to try some of these mods at some point.

brew lan is the smallest of those and really the least accomplished.

We did Focus more on late game, but we did add things elsewhere as well where we could. We very much tried to make sure to limit the overlap and the two areas that got the least units, Air and Naval, are layers where the units don't leave a lot of room for extra units, either due to mechanics or in Naval's case, the fact that you already mix and match units fairly well. Sure we didn't add many T2 Naval units, but the T3 Naval units we added don't directly overshadow everything else either.

It has been said that mod's will be what keeps the game alive primarily. Few things can keep a game alive for as little cost as player generated content.
But they can propably make more kickstarters for expansions if they need the money. But currently they have some expansions left to finish first :)

    Only Nasa Computers?
I would not mind running this on a few thousand PS3's:
    http://scitech.blogs.cnn.com/2009/12/09/military-purchases-2200-ps3s/
    Note the word "additional".

There is one mod that makes SupCom or FA closer to TA. Inlcuding the "basic Fabricator builds advanced factory" and "only certain fabritcators can build certain units" parts.
I think it als cut out T4/Experimental, but not 100% sure about that part.
    Just can't remember the name.

That is if the pathfinding works. SupCom naval pathing was notoriously buggy, due to the overdetailed seafloors i guess. There are times when less is more - terrain complexity is one of them.
